Juventus won the Trofeo TIM for the first time in their history after sending Milan plunging to a 2-0 defeat.
The Bianconeri had already beaten Inter on penalties earlier in the evening, while the Rossoneri had lost 1-0 to the Nerazzurri.
Flavio Roma made his debut in the Milan goal, while Martin Caceres played at right-back for Ciro Ferrara’s squad.
Amauri had scored against Inter and also hit the back of the net in this 45-minute tie, unleashing a right-foot strike from the edge of the box that squirmed past the uncertain new goalkeeper.
Alexandre Pato was ready to equalise with a mazy run, but Hasan Salihamidzic cut him down inches outside the penalty area and Ronaldinho fired the resulting free kick over.
Instead, Juve made it 2-0 when Paolo De Ceglie threaded through for Vincenzo Iaquinta from close range, although there were suspicions of offside.
Juve had never previously won the Trofeo TIM, but lifted the trophy in Pescara’s Stadio Adriatico on Friday evening.
It is another dismal setback for Leonardo’s Milan, who is yet to win a single friendly in charge. To make matters worse, Pato went off with a knock. |
