Federico Chiesa is fighting for his future at Juventus this summer after the club indicated that they want him to leave.
Chiesa has been one of the standout players in the Juve squad and continues to work hard to prove his value.
However, with only one year remaining on his contract, Juventus is eager for him to depart.
The Bianconeri are keen to avoid losing him as a free agent and have informed him that he is no longer part of their plans.
Juventus hopes that he finds a new club before the transfer window closes. But how did he end up in this situation?
Last season, Juventus offered him a new contract with the same salary, but Chiesa sought a pay rise. Pundit Edoardo Mecca believes that rejecting that offer was a significant mistake.
He told Calciomercato:
“Chiesa’s situation was handled badly by his entourage. This is because when Juventus put forward the proposal for a ‘bridge’ renewal, the player replied that he wanted an upward renewal because he thought he had now reached the status of a top player.
“He cannot afford to stay still for a year because it would be very important for him to play and provide stability after the injury. We will see if any offers from Roma or abroad will arrive in the last part of the market”.

Chiesa probably regrets not signing an extension before now, but it is almost too late for him now.
He must find a new home because it will be his loss if he is sidelined for this entire season.
If he did NOT think correctly, he did BAD to himself
Chiesa has nothing to lose. It’s similar to Dybala’s case. It’s Juve who will be hurted financially. However, It won’t be wise to sideline him for entire season. The pressure will be too big to not playing him as he’s a quality player and also in reality, Motta has no problem with him. It’s Guintoli who wants Chiesa out.
El Cid. Yes, Juve lost him on a free but Dybala massively damaged himself financially – he was initially offered $10M by Juve to re-sign but wanted $12M. Juventus got fed up and offered him the same salary he was on ($7M) or he must find himself another team. He again refused and ended up at Roma on $4.5M and has won nothing with them. Dybala and Chiesa’s agents are fools.
It’s never too late.
Chiesa is a world class winger, Juve need one. What’s the problem?
Both sides need to swallow their pride for the greater good of the club. And I bet Chiesa will play out of his skin for Juve if this is resolved.
The problem is that Motta sees his way of playing as detrimental to the team. He does not track back enough, does not press for long enough, and plays with his head down and most times plays for himself and not the team. This is the real issue.
Those things can be learnt. What you can’t teach is what’s instinctive… Chiesa breaks the lines, does the unexpected and has a wicked curve ball. I find it hard to believe there isn’t a place for him in the team.
There WAS a place for him in the team. But not on the terms he wanted. The situation is much worse for Chiesa than the club. Juve aren’t asking for much in the way of a transfer fee. But still can’t generate any offers. No one will pay him the wages he wants now. If he refuses to leave he will sit out the year in the stands and he’ll move to another club for free on less wages
