Alvaro Morata’s agent Juanma Lopez confirms that Real Madrid are monitoring the striker but the player is only interested in staying at Juventus.
“Real Madrid keep an eye on him.” Lopez told Calciomercato, “but Morata only has Juventus in his head.”
“The player is happy at Juventus and thinks only about Juve. He (Morata) has a great relationship with Carlitos [Tevez], who is an important player, who always helps (Morata) a lot.”
The 22-year old Spanish international joined Juventus last summer and confirmed his commitment to the club in an interview with Gazzetta Dello Sport at the weekend.
“I didn’t choose Italy, I chose Juventus. I don’t regret it one little bit,” Morata told GdS.
“I step into the stadium, look around and everywhere there are pictures of the champions who passed through this club. Genuine legends. I am in a place where the history of football was made, so I can improve as a player here better than anywhere else.“You Italians are too critical of Serie A. The greatest thing about it is how tactical the football is. Carlos Tevez often tells me that Italy is like university for strikers. He’s right, as here you become a real player in every aspect. This is a unique opportunity for me.
“I am truly in love with Juve and want to spend much of my career in the Bianconeri jersey. I also cannot forget Juve were the first to make concrete attempts to sign me. I wasn’t very happy at Madrid, as I didn’t have much room, but Juve immediately treated me like an important player.
“Juve’s strength is that we are a united group off the field as well as on it. It feels like a family with the more experienced players ready to give advice and encouragement.
“In that sense, Gigi Buffon and Andrea Pirlo are exceptional, as they set the example of how to be a professional and are also great fun to have as teammates every day. They bring the best out of everyone in the locker room.”
I have always feared RM would buy back Morata sooner or later. Real probably saw his move to Juve more as a “loan” than a sale. In any case, it makes good sense for all parties. Juve get Morata for 2 or 3 seasons and make a €10m profit. Morata gets to develop nicely. RM get to buy back a more developed Morata for €10m than they sold him for. He could play Ronaldo’s, Benzema’s and Bale’s role effortlessly.
In 2 seasons, with inflation and the way the transfer prices for everyone has sky rocketed, I wouldn’t say we’re making a 10m profit. I, personally, hope he stays with us bc ultimately he can decline a move back to RM but who knows if he would ever do that
I really want him to stay too, but I doubt he will decline RM if they come knocking. He has so many reasons not to refuse a move back to RM.
1) He is a RM Castilla product
2) RM is the most glamorous club in the world
3) They will probably double/triple/quadruple his wages from the current €2.2 million; the best Juve can do is probably double it without causing locker room issues.
In any case, I’ll enjoy Morata with the belief that Juve’s management has a plan if and when he leaves.
My main worry is if he is RM quality in 2 years then will 30m be enough to replace him with a striker of the same quality? I’m not so sure…
Yeah, I hear you. It would be hard to find someone with Morata’s **skill**, speed and size on the cheap. Zaza might do the trick though. He isn’t as skilled and speedy as Morata, but he may be a better finisher. Anyway, there was life before Morata and there will be life after.
Fino alla fine
It was included in the deal. If he does well, they won’t allow us to keep him and if he’s shit, we’re stuck with him. It’s a better deal for them than it was for us and i don’t want us to ever make a deal like this again. Good thing we have plenty of players to take his position eventually.
