Barcelona President Josep Bartomeu believes Juve’s signing of Cristiano Ronaldo is “a coup” and Juventus are even more likely to win the Champions League with Ronaldo.
The Barça President spoke with Gazzetta dello Sport on the subject of the upcoming Champions League and the arrival of CR7 in Turin this summer.
“Let’s start with the Champions League,” Bartomeu told the paper..
“Not least because we’ve been knocked out by Italian teams in the last two seasons, first Juventus and then Roma. Deservedly so.
“Who will win it? It’s balanced, apart from Juventus with Ronaldo no-one has made any sensational signings. No-one wanted to sell their best players, they looked at things in terms of sport rather than economics.
“Andrea Agnelli pulled off a coup. For me though it’s a sorry story because La Liga lost a star, the second in two years after Neymar.
“It’s negative for Spanish football, I’m not interested in the fact that Madrid might be weakened because we want the best football to be played. Only then can we compete with the Premier League, which is the richest.
“Ronaldo will not only improve Juventus, but all of Serie A. As for the Champions League, I have to say I agree with [Leo] Messi: Juventus are even more likely to win it with Ronaldo.”
