Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero believes Paulo Dybala works best when linking the attack and the midfield and reiterates that Maurizio Sarri needs more time.
Juve have turned in some lacklustre performances so far this season but Del Piero believes Maurizio Sarri is still the right man for the job.
“Sarri created such beautiful ideas of football at Empoli and Napoli, but it took time to achieve them with daily training and constant communication,” Del Piero told Sky Sport Italia.
“Juve don’t have that same kind of time because they play so many games in and therefore a coach can require over a year to get his ideas embedded into the squad.
“We haven’t seen much beautiful football in Sarri’s Juve so far, but there were signs, so I think they are on the right track. After all, they are still top of Serie A and in with a chance of qualifying for the Champions league quarter-finals.
“Dybala? I think playing just off the centre-forward is the best position for Paulo because he can assist, dribble and score goals.
“He has to be near to the goal, but I don’t see him as a centre-forward, even if he can open up spaces for those around him. I believe he’s perfect uniting the midfield with the attack.”
Del Piero has relocated to Los Angeles and the US is starting to see more cases of the Coronavirus.
“We are basically experiencing now what Italy had two or three weeks ago. There isn’t currently any clear advice on what to do, so people are panic-buying in the supermarkets.
“We Italians followed what was happening back home and are therefore more prepared. America will not be immune from the coronavirus.”
