Juventus are targeting Edinson Cavani for the summer, making him the priority ahead of Radamel Falcao or Paulo Dybala.
According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, the Bianconeri have drawn up a shortlist of players and PSG’s Urugyuan striker is the priority target for the summer.
The Italian daily go on to report that preparations are already underway for the August with 29-year-old Cavani believed to be a favourite of coach Max Allegri who missed the opportunity to bring the striker to Milan.
Gazzetta believe Cavani will spend a season alongside Carlos Tevez before the Argentine’s contract ends and he inevitably joins Boca Juniors, allowing Cavani to take over the ’10’ shirt.
Negotations between the two sides would not factor in Paul Pogba, despite the Parisians’ desire to sign the French midfielder.
I don’t know, if he would be available on ‘the cheap’ then yes, but he’ll be 30 when he joins us, that isn’t exactly much of a future for us. Also not so sure I want Cavani to have the number 10
He should have the number 9. I think he has that at PSG too.
Yeah but I read he would be inheriting the 10 here after Tevez is gone
With the salary involved, i cant see him returning, unless we make real inroads into Europe this season – that means beating Dortmund and progressing further than some of those english sides interested in him.
Chelsea might be an option – I can;t see him joining Arsenal or Spurs. City are pretty covered but they have FFP to consider as well.
Juve could get him if his heart is in a return to Italy. Him and Tevez up front and we’d have a 5th Scudetto. It’s a big ask though, a lot of competition for a great player. A real Juve player though – would fit in perfectly in Turin
Why would Chelsea get him? They have enough players, just like City. If there is one team that could really use him, it’s Arsenal. Giroud is okay, but not good enough for the top. At Arsenal he would be guarenteed a starting spot. At Chelsea you never know.
The only way I’d take Cavani is in a swap deal (+cash/player) for Pogba. Otherwise, he’s too expensive, with a salary too high to justify attempting to lure him back to Italy. Dybala/Berardi/Zaza, pick 2 and bring them.
Oh definitely. Cavani is amazing, while Falcao might only had a few good seasons, maybe even just one good season. He’s kind of flopping at United right now.
Whats the point of getting him? It would only stall the careers of Morata, Coman, Zaza or Berardi … I don;t get this.
Cavani is world class. Two or three years ago I didn’t even need to think about it, but now I’m not sure wheter it’s a smart move. He’s getting older and the value will drop quickly.
Id take Dybala over him.
He could replace Tevez after next season. Him and Morata will be the younger version of Tevez and Llorente.
