The Lega Serie A have reiterated their desire to complete the 2019/20 season, “as soon as the provisions of the government authorities and the sanitary conditions permit.”
A variety of suggestions had been offered for how to settle the current Serie A ranging from a playoff for the title to leaving it unassigned.
The Lega Serie A have now released a statement confirming their desire to complete the season, but only when it is safe to do so:
“Today brought together the representatives of the clubs in video conferences for the meeting. The meeting dealt with all the topics on the agenda, but they went into the background in the face of the health emergency linked to the management and spread of COVID-19 in our country.
In this regard, the Serie A League thanks all the clubs for their commitment and for the countless initiatives in support of the various hospitals scattered throughout Italy. The contribution of the world of football to support hospitals, doctors, nurses and all hospital staff, every day at the forefront of this demanding challenge, will be told by the Serie A League on their social networks through the #WEAREONETEAM campaign, sponsored by the Ministry of Health, the Higher Institute of Health and Civil Protection.
Finally, the clubs unanimously reaffirmed their desire to complete the Serie A TIM Championship, as soon as the provisions of the government authorities and the sanitary conditions permit. This is the position of the Serie A League in view of tomorrow’s meeting called by UEFA.
In the course of the next few days, moreover, the work tables set up last week will start, which will concern medical, technical-sports, institutional relations and risk assessment issues for the clubs and for the Serie A league itself “.
