Douglas Costa has been handed a four-game ban by the Italian Federation after spitting at Federico Di Francesco in Juve’s 2-1 victory over Sassuolo.
The Brazilian was caught on camera, spitting at the Neroverdi winger in Sunday’s match and was subsequently sent off for a culmination of offences.
The Italian Federation announced today that Costa will be banned for four matches in Serie A, but will be free to continue playing for Juventus in the Champions League.
Some reports from the Italian press had suggested that Juve may not impose any further fine on the player following his suspension.
Costa will miss the trip to Frosinone, home games against Bologna and Napoli, and finally an away match against Udinese.
