Juventus have confirmed the transfer of Mattia Caldara to AC Milan in a deal that sees Leonardo Bonucci move back to Turin.
The 24-year-old defender was on tour with the Bianconeri but was forced to cut his trip short and return to Milan earlier today to undergo his medical.
Juventus have now confirmed his transfer to Milan, in exchange for Leonardo Bonucci, who returns to Juventus just one year after leaving the club. A statement on the clubs official website confirmed the deal:
“Juventus Football Club S.p.A announces that these agreements have been finalised with AC Milan S.p.A.
“Definitive acquisition of the player Leonardo Bonucci for a consideration €35m, payable in two financial years. Juventus and the player have signed a five-year contract of employment until June 30 2023.
“Definitive disposal of the registration rights of the player Mattia Caldara for a consideration €35m, payable in two financial years. The economic effect is positive for around €22m.”
Milan have since confirmed the move via a statement on their own website:
“AC Milan announces the signing of the players Gonzalo Higuain and Mattia Caldara from Juventus.
“Gonzalo and Mattia are two important pieces of the new era for the club.
“Gonzalo Higuain arrives at AC Milan on an expensive loan deal until June 30, 2019 with the right of redemption.
“Mattia Caldara finally arrives as part of an exchange on par with Leonardo Bonucci, who returns to Juventus. The 24-year-old defender has signed a contract that binds him to AC Milan until 30 June 2023.”
