Cristiano Ronaldo is to remain in Portugal with the club’s permission, following the outbreak of the Coronavirus in Italy.

The 35-year-old returned to his home in Madeira earlier this week following his mothers illness and Juventus have confirmed he will remain there for the moment:

“Ronaldo has not trained and remains in Madeira pending developments related to the current health emergency.” – Juventus.com

Following the postponement of Juve’s Champions League match against Lyon and the entire team in voluntary quarantine after Daniele Rugani tested positive for the virus, Ronaldo expected to remain in Portugal for the next few weeks.

Miguel Albuquerque, governor of the Madeira region was asked about Ronaldo’s condition and responded saying: “I can’t talk about this topic for data protection reasons, but the situation has been adequately analysed and it is, at this moment, guaranteed that there is no possibility of infection.” (As quoted by Corriere Dello Sport)
